I hope this letter finds you and your family well and hope you are managing the challenging times we are currently living in. This year we will begin the school year a little differently due to Covid-19 and we pray that eventually we can have our students come to church for CCD. Here are the key points.
Our year will start out with distance learning. We will use a diocesan approved Online Faith Formation Program from Ignatius Press entitled Faith and Life for students in grades 1-8. This program was chosen because it will give your child(ren) a thorough grounding in Catholic doctrine. Students will learn about the Sacraments, morality, social teaching, and the Church’s life and mission. Interactive learning includes videos, games, discussion questions, reflections, links to more information, online assessments, reports, and more.
How do we get started? The first thing to do is to get in touch with me (text 701-720-3998 or email [email protected]). I will need an email address that your child(ren) will use to access the Faith and Life program. When I receive the email that your child(ren) will use, I will then register your child(ren) and then you will receive an email back from the Faith and Life program asking that you register and set up your own password.
Compared to our previous CCD program, the Faith and Life program covers more in-depth foundational teachings of our faith. Since last year’s COVID-19 shutdown prevented our students from completing their lessons and the more in-depth content of this new program we will start all students in the grade they were enrolled in last year. We will motivate by using incentives to catch up to their current grade.
We will notify you when we are opening our doors to have face to face class. When we do, we will follow social distance guideline and Faith Formation mandates as issued from the Diocese. When this happens, your child(ren) will be expected to come to class with the week’s assignment completed. If the assignment was not completed at home, we ask that your child(ren) bring their own personal I-pad or laptop computer with them to class so they can finish their assignment during class time. Students who have completed their assigned work will have a review of the assigned work with their teacher and participate in other scheduled activities with their teacher for the remainder of the class. May this challenging time we are experiencing be a moment of grace for you and your child(ren) to grow closer to one another and to our Lord Jesus Christ. If you have any questions about the upcoming school year, call the Parish office at (701) 627-4423 to talk with Fr. Roger or my cell (701) 720-3998, you may also text me. Blessings, Bobbi
